A VISION FOR LAKE HIGHLANDS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH - SUMMER SERMON SERIES

This summer we will depart from the lectionary in order to think together on a future vision for LHPC.  The Session will have a retreat to pray and ponder these larger questions for the life of our church.  We invite you to participate in worship and study as together we move forward in faith.  Sermons will focus on the following topics this summer as we explore a scriptural basis for shared ministry.

Starting June 22, the FOURTH SUNDAY of each month will be Spare Change Sunday.  Bring your spare change to be added to the general Missions budget to help provide food bags and for other emergency needs.

Sign up now for the Activating Congregations for Transformation workshops that will be held September 19 & 20 at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church.  This is an educational opportunity open to everyone!  This program is sponsored by Grace and Red River Presbyteries.  All church leaders will be asked to participate.  Take a look at the offerings (posted around the church on bulletin boards).  Choose a couple of workshops to attend.  There are many nationally-known presenters and many different topics to choose from.  You will be enriched, and by your participation, our church will be blessed.

Pastor Anne will be on vacation with her family from July 25 through August 8.  In her absence, the Rev. Betty Youngman and the Rev. Ashley Hood will be available for pastoral emergencies.  Please contact either the church office or a Session member (after hours) in the event of a death or critical care emergency.  They will know whom to contact.  Chuck Ramsay will fill the pulpit on July 27 and the Rev. Brent Barry will preach on August 3

It is hard to believe that Anne has been here for five months.  Maybe you've met her and feel like you've found an old friend or maybe you haven't.  Whichever is the case, our new pastor, Anne Cameron, wants an opportunity to become better acquainted with you and to give you the opportunity to know her better.  To help this happen, we have planned a series of special neighborhood meetings throughout our church community.  Tuesdays with Anne will be held in the homes of church members in your neighborhood through the month of June - 7:00 p.m.  Please look for that invitation to arrive soon and join us for light refreshments and a wonderful chance to visit with Anne and other church families in your community.  Remember, it's Tuesdays with Anne...

The price for flowers has just increased to $32.50.  This is a $1.00 increase from the amount printed in the February issue of the church newsletter.

Our highly successful 9AM Praise on High service is looking to expand the Praise Team.  Specifically, we are in need of a new drummer (Jake will soon be leaving the metroplex) and a bass guitar player.  If you know of any candidates for these positions, please contact Peyton Strouth, worship leader, Peyton Strouth.

What kind of folks are we looking for?  The POH team is looking for individuals who place an emphasis on serving God thru this service as a first priority.  Skill levels can be developed, however, dedication to the service is a must, and a familiarity with contemporary Christian music is desired but not required.  POH rehearses on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings, as well as a few occasional special events throughout the year.  A small financial compensation is allowable if necessary.  Placement in the band is by audition and interview.
